Revealing Beaute' reveals Facts About Kiyah

Revealing Beaute'

THE EXPRESSIONS OF MY JOURNEY TO REVEALING TRUE BEAUTY

Revealing Beaute Interviews CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLIST KIYAH WRIGHT

Kiyah recently got a chance to sit with Revealing Beaute' in Atlanta during the Bronner Bros. Hair Show. Read what Kiyah says its the biggest misconception in being a celebrity hairstylist.

Kiyah Wright is not just a Celebrity Hairstylist. She's an amazing woman who continues to help other beauty professionals grow and become better at their craft.

Two weeks ago I had the chance to hang out with Kiyah and her students at the Aveda Institute in Atlanta, GA. Read about my experience here!  I'm not a hairstylist, but one the greatest lessons I walked away with is, "attention to detail". As a growing beauty professional, learning how to connect with people is important and I believe that Kiyah supersedes this attribute.

I was humbled to be able to interview Kiyah and glad to share it with you all today!

I present to some and introduce to others....
Celebrity Hairstylist and Educator
Ms.Kiyah Wright!

RBWhat's the biggest misconception that new stylist have when it comes to breaking into the "celebrity stylist" world?

KWThe biggest misconception is that they just assume that working with celebrities is all fun and games. That they are going to be a hanging out with celebs on set, going to their concerts, etc and not understanding how it is really about hard work and knowing how to behave on set. It's about the artist, not you. You have to maintain a professional work ethic by doing your job and keeping to yourself.

RBIt's been 10 years since you transitioned from NY to LA. Was this the best move you ever made?

KWYes. It was all about timing for me.. After September 11th, it was the right time to pick up my life and move it to LA to start the next chapter of my life.

RBWhat advice would you give stylist who are considering relocating to jump-start their career?

KWMake sure you know your niche! That you are sure that this career is exactly what they want to do. Always remember, wherever there is change, there is challenge.

RBWhat still motivates Kiyah to make 3am call times, fly across the country to Italy and miss nights in your own bed?

KWMy own passion comes from wanting to change someone's look, image and overall life. To inspire and change women's lives.

RBYour position allows you to be in your client's personal space.  We know this isn't always easy to do without overstepping boundaries. Share with us why keeping the line of stylist and "friend" in its place is crucial.

KWAt the end of the day, if everybody's your friend as a stylist, you wont make any money!! You want your friends to know that this is a career for you and respect that.

RBWhat are 5 hair tools/products that you can't live without?

KW: My must have items are the Unite Flat IronLAST LOOK HairsprayUnite leave-in conditionerTancho wax stick; and Muze hair extensions - I can not live life without MUZE hair accessories.
