Celebrity Colorist Kiyah Wright Names Top Trends at Bonner Bros Hair Show

Kiyah dishes some of her secrets on the hottest hair trends right now. See here why her celebrity clients are making these tends so HOT.

Two-time Emmy Award-winning celebrity hairstylist Kiyah Wright graced the 65th bi-annual Bronner Bros International Hair Show this weekend. The Clairol Professional colorist mingled with stylists, barbers and hair enthusiasts about the industry's hottest trends and newest hair techniques. This year, Wright observed hair show attendees and reported on the top three hair trends from the show:
Bright, Bold and Vibrant like CiaraKelis and Jordan Sparks

Three trends that stood out colorwise were color blocking, ombre and chunky highlights as most of the attendees shied away from plain haircolor. Blondes and golds ruled the show and several brave show attendees dabbled in multicolored 'dos.
Tress tips: To obtain a funky, vibrant hue (or a multitude of them!) use Clairol Professional Jazzing which is a temporary, sheer haircolor. Available in 18 shades ranging from Jet Grape to Fuchsia Plum, it bestows a punch of color for the most vivid styles. Its ammonia- and peroxide-free formula is also damage-free.
If you’re on a budget, opt for an ombre style. The upkeep is more affordable! Celebrity hairstylist R. Obrien says, "Choose  shades that will compliment your skin tone as well as wardrobe choices. For a dark chocolate beauty: deep reds, coppers, and cool ash make for beautiful choices. For the caramel-coated lovely: rich browns, coppers, possibly even violets (depending on career and character). For the fair maiden: ash tones, subdued blondesgolden caramel tones will add warmth to her olive skin." (source)
Au Naturale like Chrisette MicheleLedisi and Macy Gray

Natural hair is the biggest hair trend of 2012! Women are revamping their hair regimens and embracing their kinks, curls, coils and waves or a combination of these textures without harsh chemicals or treatments. Instead, they’re experimenting with brilliant haircolors to keep their crowning glory vivacious, sexy and eclectic.
Tress tip: For healthy, natural hair, it’s all about maintenance. Find a good hydrating shampoo (especially if wearing haircolor), a leave-in conditioner and a curl cream to tame unruly curls. These tools with help to soften and detangle natural hair and to make it more manageable.
Extensions (or Weaves) like Gabrielle UnionSanaa Lathan and Raven-Symone

Women who are gravitating towards natural hair are also experimenting with extensions to switch it up and to practice protective styling. Extensions and weaves allow the wearer to experiment with different styles and textures with minimal damage and stress on their natural hair. Just remember to clean and deep condition your hair underneath.
Tress tip: Make sure the extensions are high quality and can withstand both heat and color. This will allow for unlimited experimentation sans damage!
